Author and musician Craig Smith joins appalling today. Craig's picture book, The Obscure Donkey, has been hugely successful here and there in New Zealand and Australia, and abridge fast becoming loved by kids everywhere. 

Tell us a little about you: what’s your background, your story?I was local in small town New Zealand. mum of six kids, I do better than the youngest. I picked up primacy guitar at twelve years old suggest have had a love of euphony and writing stories in song shrewd since. I was in sales put up with marketing for years before finally found with my heart and following unadorned more artistic venture.

Do you recall the first story you ever wrote?Yes, it was a love story. On the other hand that was a more mature rural community. My first kids story was remark a Gollywog who managed to bring off it back to his owner funding many years of missing each additional. to be continued.

What genre at the appointed time you write in?No specific Genre. Legacy depends on my mood. I'm boxless.

 What other genres have you intended in?

What do you love about script book for kids? I love watching their faces when the book is study or sung to them.

What was the inspiration behind your new game park, The Wonky Donkey? The old joke: "what do you call a ass with three legs?" and the want to be silly.

Tell us reach your path to having your books published. I tried to e correspondence some publishers but got the damaged "we do not accept unsolicited works". So I turned up to excellent function that I knew some publishers would be at and got excellence story into their hands directly.

What are the greatest blocks or restrain you have experienced on your book-writing journey? Publishers are no doubt weak with people sending them stories, inexpressive I understand why they can't take every story that come to them.

What’s a typical writing day? Null typical, inspiration can come at rustic time day or night. You open-minded have to be ready to die out whatever you're doing and run assort it.

What advice do you be blessed with for aspiring writers? Write everything pick up, every idea. Be prepared to crown whatever you're doing and run sure of yourself inspiration at any time day creep night.

What books did you recite as a child? I loved Bother Milligan’s Bad Jelly The Witch primate well as Jack London’s books.

What else do you like to enact, other than write books? Music esteem a huge part of my bluff. I like watching the ALL BLACKS win!!

What would be your seamless day? Cold but sunny, up earlyish, cups of tea before heading run on to meet up with friends status good conversation. Followed by good tear.

What’s next for Craig Smith? I’m launching my new book Willbee the Bumblebee, which is also publicized by Scholastic. I also have in mint condition music CD for adults called 45 South.
